Eucalyptus-Cedarwood - a Powerful Combination

Ask an aromatherapist which 'Essential Oil' is the first choice to keep healthy as the season's change to colder months and they might say it’s Eucalyptus-Cedarwood.

Eucalyptus and Cedarwood Pure Essential Oils combine beautifully in this potent blend, creating a successful interplay that results in a therapeutic and soothing experience. The clear and sharp aroma of Australian Eucalyptus is underscored with the warm and woody fragrance of American Cedarwood, evoking the essence of the bush. The uplifting, earthy scent elevates a feeling of happiness and contentment, as though surrounded by nature.

So how does this healing Essential Oil combination make us feel?

Both Eucalyptus and Cedarwood have similar cleansing and medicinal properties, so they synergise nicely. LeRêve's blend of Eucalyptus/Cedarwood is antibacterial, hence ideal to cleanse surfaces and the air. Excellent as a soothing decongestant, it helps ease symptoms of cold & flu, bronchial congestion, catarrh, sinusitis and hay fever. Warming for the joints, it helps relieve muscular tension and cramps and may offer temporary relief for mild arthritic and rheumatic pain. It also contains anti-inflammatory compounds that can treat skin issues such as acne, eczema, wounds, cold sores and minor burns. Finally, Eucalyptus/Cedarwood may bring temporary relief from nagging headaches and mild migraines.

There's just one caution... Please avoid topical use of Eucalyptus/Cedarwood during the first trimester of pregnancy, or if suffering from high blood pressure or epilepsy.

Where do these wondrous Oils come from and how are they harvested?

Due to the curative, therapeutic nature of both Essentials Oils, there is a long standing history of both being used in Eastern and Western cultures. Cedarwood dates way back to ancient Egypt, Rome and other ancient civilizations, while Eucalyptus has been incorporated into Chinese, Indian Ayurvedic, Greek, and other European styles of medicine to treat a range of conditions for thousands of years. It is well-known that Australian Aborigines used eucalyptus leaves to heal a variety of wounds.

Eucalyptus globulus (part of the Myrtaceae plant family) is a fast-growing evergreen tree native to Australia, (now grown all over the world). The leaves are dried, crushed, and steam distilled to extract the Essential Oil.

Cedarwood (Juniperus virginiana stem wood) is an evergreen tree that is native to eastern North America (the ancients used Cedar of Lebanon). Several techniques can be used to extract the Oil, including steam distillation, carbon dioxide distillation, and cold pressing the needles, leaves, bark, and berries of cedar trees.
